MHC, a non-governmental, service-oriented, non-profit organization, aims to address the growing concerns of migrants. She started the organization in 2005 with Attorney Arnedo S. Valera and Jesse A. Gatchalian.

She said they started the MHC to bring the Filipino and FilAm community together regardless of affiliations and regionalism.

They believed in one common inspiring and unified mission – to serve kababayans in need in the US and in the Philippines and preserve the cultural identity and rights of the Filipinos in the US.

Valera-Jaramillo graduated Cuma Laude with an AB Degree in Asian Studies at the Pontifical University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines. Under the Australian Aid/Scholarship Government Program, she completed a Masters of Arts Degree in Foreign Affairs and Trade in Australia with High Distinction (HD) in thesis.

FilAm Image Magazine recently awarded Valera-Jaramillo as one of The Outstanding Filipinos Abroad 2009 award, given annually to Fil-Ams who have made significant contributions in the US. n
