I was in tears when I saw this story in the Asian Journal a few months ago...tears of pride, envy, and inspiration. My passion is for the skies and have loved aerospace since I was little. As a twenty year old Fil-Am whose still trying to figure out what to do and where to go, reading Capt. Catuncan\'s story reminded me of those childhood days. Their purpose: to teach selected F-4 (back then), F-14 & F-18 aircrews the fine art of air combat maneuvering The F-15 is an Air Force jet and they have their own TOPGUN equivalent, the Red Flag. But the US Navy did fly F-16Ns for use in the Adversary role along with T-38s, F-5s, A-4s and even F-18s to simulate different types of threats a pilot may encounter in combat. With the F-14 now retired and the F-18 Super Hornet taking over the F-14\'s job, some changes were made and it\'s now collectively known as the the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center out of NAS Fallon. The Super Hornet\'s multirole capability comes to mind.
