Congratulations to the Cantucans, you are so blessed!

Monessa, you have made my dreams come to reality. I\'ve always wanted to become an F-16 pilot (inspired by Topgun). Everytime I see them fly by, I am awed by the imagination of how it must feel like to fly one. Time has run out on me and I still have a young family. And, I\'m not even a US citizen yet! I plan to travel to AZ/UT in Feb. Is there a way I can meet you in person?

I\'ve been meaning to type this up when I first heard of this inspiring article of Capt. Catuncan but haven\'t had the courage or the time until now to scrounge up my thoughts as to how to reply.

I was in tears when I saw this story in the Asian Journal a few months ago...tears of pride, envy, and inspiration. My passion is for the skies and have loved aerospace since I was little. Indeed, I\'ll admit I\'ve had childhood dreams to get into the AFA, become a pilot and eventually an astronaut. Unfortunately during my high school years, I was moved away from such dreams (but not my passion) and have been without much direction ever since while literally and figuratively finding myself traveling to the ends of the earth to find a path for me, all while turning my back on one that I shared extreme passion for.

As a twenty year old Fil-Am whose still trying to figure out what to do and where to go, reading Capt. Catuncan\'s story reminded me of those childhood days. I envy yet admire her for her commitment to her dreams, something I wasn\'t able to do from the start. I just hope once I have everything sorted out, that maybe one day I\'ll return to the path set before me and follow in her footsteps. Until then, I\'ll be glad to know that there was a Fil-Am who continued to follow her dreams for the skies.

Thank you for raising such an inspirational child.

TOPGUN

TOPGUN is officially known as the United States Navy Fighter Weapons School. Their purpose: to teach selected F-4 (back then), F-14 & F-18 aircrews the fine art of air combat maneuvering

The F-15 is an Air Force jet and they have their own TOPGUN equivalent, the Red Flag.

But the US Navy did fly F-16Ns for use in the Adversary role along with T-38s, F-5s, A-4s and even F-18s to simulate different types of threats a pilot may encounter in combat.

With the F-14 now retired and the F-18 Super Hornet taking over the F-14\'s job, some changes were made and it\'s now collectively known as the the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center out of NAS Fallon. The Super Hornet\'s multirole capability comes to mind.

Not taking away from the Capt her hard work and well deserved achievements, just questioning the \"misplaced\" allegiance. I guess we can have US Marines that are US citizens and of any ethnicity, race or color carry their respective flags into combat. I\'m sure that would be well received by their fellow American Marines, NOT...
