The January 2012 visa bulletin showed 2 to 6 weeks advances in the most family based preferences. The employment based third preference skilled workers advanced by two weeks while the unskilled third preference advanced by four weeks. The January 2012 visa bulletin follows:

The Department of State will be processing the following petitions with priority dates earlier than indicated below.
Family Based Preferences:
1. First Preference Unmarried Sons and Daughter of Citizens; Apr. 15, 1997
This preference advanced by 6 weeks since last month.
2. Second Preference:
a. Spouses and Minor Children of Permanent Residents; Apr. 22, 2009
This preference advanced by 4 weeks since last month.
b. Unmarried Sons and Daughter 21 years and over of Lawful Permanent Residents; Sept. 01, 2001
This preference advanced by 2 weeks since last month.
3. Third Preference Married Sons and Daughters of Citizens; July 15, 1992
This preference advanced by one week since last month.
4. Fourth Preference Brothers and Sisters of Adult Citizens; Oct. 08, 1988
This preference advanced by 4 weeks since last month.
B. Employment Based Preferences:
1. First Preference – Priority Workers – Current
2. Second Preference – Advanced Degree Professionals – Current
3. Third Preference – Skilled Workers & Professionals; Feb. 01, 2006

Please note that for the month of January 2012, Employment Based Third Preference visa (professionals and skilled workers) is available for the Philippine nationals with approved labor certifications or I-140 petitions with priority dates earlier than February 1, 2006. For Schedule A nurses and physical therapist, immigrant visa is also available for January 2012, if they have an approved I-140 petition dated earlier than February 1, 2006.
Third Preference visas for Unskilled Workers such as caregivers, nursing assistants and nannies are available for those Philippine Nationals with approved labor certifications dated earlier than February 1, 2006 for the month of January 2012.

Immigration news
• On November 7, 2011, we received an approval from the Immigration Court for waiver of misrepresentation for a person who entered the US as single but is actually married. The person can now apply with naturalization.
• On October 25, 2011, we received an approval of adjustment of status for an alien who was originally deported in absentia.
• On September 22, 2011, we received an approval from USCIS for adjustment of status using cross chargeability that enabled the beneficiary to use the worldwide priority date (which is faster) instead of the Philippines priority date.
• On August 30, 2011, we received an approval from Immigration Court of an adjustment of status for an alien who was previously denied by USCIS.
• On July 28, 2011, we received an approval of adjustment of status for an alien who entered the US without valid documents but qualified under Sec. 245(i).
• On July 21, 2011 we received an approval for withholding of removal in Immigration court for an old lady who could not come back to her country because of political situation.
• On June 28, 2011, we received an approval in Immigration Court for an adjustment of status. The applicant was previously denied on the I-130 petition because they did it without an attorney. We filed a second I-130 petition that was approved based on good faith marriage.
• Individual Tax ID number (ITIN) is required for those without Social Security Number to file income tax. We help in securing ITIN.
