Superstar Nora Aunor is well on the road to regain her singing voice.

The actress left recently for Boston, Massachusetts to undergo a throat operation to be able to get back her singing voice.

It wasn’t disclosed where she will be treated, but reports from Manila stated that the operation was scheduled last Thursday, January 5.

Prior to her departure, Nora expressed hopes that her operation will be successful.

“Naniniwala ako na maibabalik talaga ang boses ko (I believe I will be able to regain my voice to sing for my fans again,” she said.

The report stated that the award-winning actress who returned to Manila after several years in the United States will be away for a month to be able to recuperate.

The actress from Iriga City, Camarines Sur lost her voice during an aesthetic operation in Japan as part of her preparation to return for good to Manila.  It was reported that she almost lost her life in the operation but was thankful she survived although she lost her singing voice.

Before flying to the United States, Nora spent Christmas and New Year in the Philippines with her children.

Nora came home to shoot a biographical movie on the life of the late President Emilio Aguinaldo entitled El Presidente with Laguna Gov. ER Ejercito playing the lead role and was to stay only for three months at the most.

Along the way, she was offered to do a mini-series by TV5 and eventually was signed up as a talent of the Kapatid network.

Nora’s manager, Boy Palma, was quoted that two prominent directors plan to do separate documentary films on the actress-singer.  He identified the directors as Brillante Mendoza and Tikoy Aguiluz.

Palma said that Nora will star in a movie with Studio 5 and in a TV5 series when she returns to Manila.

It’s a pairing that has long been anticipated by many – the first team-up between Megastar Sharon Cuneta and Concert King Martin Nievera in a concert.

The big event, billed as Once in a Lifetime, is happening on Saturday, February 11 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum, a joint production of Viva Concerts and Mega Productions.

Years back, it seemed impossible to cast them together in one show.  Sharon was more active in the movies.  The few times that she would hit the stage, it was usually a solo concert.

Martin’s career revolved around the concert stage, which at the peak of his career, he shared with Pops Fernandez.  With Sharon and Martin’s separate lives, it was virtually impossible to have them together.

Well, not anymore.  Trust Vic del Rosario, maverick show master, to put the two superstars together three days before Valentine’s.  The date makes Once in a Lifetime one of the hottest concert tickets of the season.

This is also the first time they will share the bill in a single show.  Directing the show is Rowell Santiago along with Louie Ocampo as musical director, who are also marking their first time with Sharon and Martin together.  Both Rowell and Louie have worked closely with Sharon and Martin over these past years but never with them in one show until now.

Barely four months after she gave birth and husband Ogie Alcasid’s first child, Nate, Regine Velasquez will make her first post-natal public appearance at a Valentine concert entitled, Mr. and Mrs. A, at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum on Tuesday, February 14.  It’s the couple’s reunion concert, to benefit the Philippine General Hospitals (PGH) Medical Social Service outreach program for cancer-stricken kids, specifically for the continuous chemotherapy of five patients.  Ana Puno, co-producer of the concert, is behind the advocacy with Regine and Ogie.

The concert will also feature Vice Ganda, Kyla, Erik Santos and Pilipinas Got Talent champion Marcelito Pomoy and first Star Power winner Angeline Quinto.

Being a Valentine concert, Mr. and Mrs. A will retrace the couple’s love story through songs.
