Autism Hearts Foundation presents Dance Your Hearts for Autism on Saturday, February 11 in support of our Filipino families affected by autism in the US and in the Philippines. This event will showcase the largest Bay Area ballroom aficionados with their breathtaking dance moves of the Argentinean tango, Brazilian salsa, cha-cha and Viennese Waltz, to name a few. A round trip ticket to the Philippines is up for grabs as raffle grand prize, plus other fabulous prizes.
Autism is prevalent worldwide and continues to rise. According to the Center for Disease Control, one in every 110 children in the US is afflicted with autism. Approximately 600,000 are afflicted with this disorder in the Philippines, where only 10 percent are diagnose and 2% getting appropriate care. This neurological disorder knows no social, racial, or economic boundaries.
Founded in 2008 by Filipino grandparents, Charlie and Lynda Borromeo, the Autism Hearts Foundation (AHF) is a non-profit organization based in San Francisco with a mission to maximize the potential of children and adults with autism spectrum disorders. Furthermore, AHF promotes and supports research-based programs that help individuals with autism integrate into the full range of social and cultural activities for an improved quality of life.
Dance Your Hearts for Autism is coordinated by Mr. James Khiani, a master ballroom aficionado /organizer and Ms. Imelda Macababayao, AHF Director. The event will undoubtedly bring a night of fun and excitement as they bring autism advocacy on the dance floor for our kababayans affected by the disorder.
For more information or reservations, please call James at (415) 425-7530, Imelda at (510) 395-2209 or Lynda at (415) 392-0882. You can also log in on their website at www.autismhearts.com.
