The true meaning of Christmas

E-mail Print

The most wonderful time of the year is here again.

The fresh air, holiday decorations, parties, shopping and ornaments are all around us.

But Christmas time, for me, is not for just giving and receiving gifts, enjoying the sumptuous meals and shopping, but it is also a time for to reflect on the things I have done and to ask God for forgiveness for all my mistakes.

Recently, The Philippines had another devastating disaster which took more than a thousand lives and left surviving families to suffer and deal with this unfortunate situation. They are living day-to-day with sadness and hopelessness.

“This too, shall pass,” the Bible says.

I am praying for those who are suffering right now -- whether it’s financial, health reasons, the loss of a loved one or other trials in our daily lives.

To all my friends and to my salon team, especially to my family: I wish you all a very merry Christmas.

I would like to share these holiday quotes that we can apply to our lives, not only for this holiday season but everyday -- because every breath is a gift and for that, I am so thankful.

I hope you’ll like them as much as I do.

“Christmas gift suggestions: to your enemy, forgiveness. To an opponent, tolerance. To a friend, your heart. To a customer, service. To all, charity. To every child, a good example. To yourself, respect.” - Oren Arnold

“Christmas is not a time or a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and good will, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.” - Calvin Coolidge

“Christmas is love in action. Every time we love, every time we give, it’s Christmas.” - Dale Evans

“The only blind person at Christmastime is he who has not Christmas in his heart.” - Helen Keller

“He, who has no Christmas in his heart, will never find Christmas under a tree.” - Charlotte Carpenter

“It is not the gift, but the thought that counts.” - Henry Van Dyke

“The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree: the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other.” - Burton Hillis

“Christmas is for children. But it is for grown-ups too. Even if it is a headache, a chore, and nightmare, it is a period of necessary defrosting of chill and hide-bound hearts.” - Lenora Mattingly Weber

“Christmas is doing a little something extra for someone.” - Charles Schulz

“From home to home, and heart to heart, from one place to another, the warmth and joy of Christmas, brings us closer to each other.” - Emily Matthews

Merry Christmas to all of you! And may all of us continue to discover the true meaning of Christmas. God bless and be safe.
