(COLUMNIST’S NOTE: In lieu of my usual column article, Marian M. Sierzant wrote a piece on Bong Prada Lim’s recent fab birthday bash in Los Angeles.)
When a celebrated fashionista turns gold, nothing less than glitter and glam will do.
Friends and family celebrated LA Patron of the Arts Bong Prada Lim’s 50th milestone last January 13, with confetti befitting the fashion icon’s signature luxe taste.
Under the master orchestration of BFF beauty master Monet Lu and creative bosom pals Alex Pineda and host Dion Santos, the Grand Ballroom of Marriott Los Angeles Downtown morphed into an elegant reception of gourmet food, overflowing libations, and dazzling guests.
The dramatically-lit ballroom was agleam with monochromatic table settings, and was detailed with dainty floral centerpieces. The cake was a multi-layer, made by Spago pastry Chef Hector. It was very classy -- an individualized mini-cakes affair adorned with Lite-Brite hues.
The Fil-Am society’s best dressed was perhaps the best party accoutrement to complete the glamorous celebration. The guest list included the Who’s Who of the Fil-Am business and entertainment scenes.
Noticeably sparkling in a black, completely sequined suit jacket, the celebrant was equal parts ecstatic and emotional throughout the evening.
Musical entertainment were offered by the talented entertainers Dion Santos, comedian Joseph Gelito, Sonny Madera, his niece Brenna, and the rising young artist Ryan Gallagher, who wowed the guests with his amazing performance.
A tribute-cum-roast recited by family and closest friends hosted Baby Blitz Abad, elicited earthy laughs and maudlin sentiments. Toasters described Bong in many compelling words, among them: blessed, original, the nicest, glamorous, precious, resilient, authentic, daring, amazing, loving, intriguing and marvelous.
Most alluded to the celebrant as their most fashionable and generous friend. The video montage was well done by his nieces. All wished him many more years of the fabulous, glamorous life.
A very moved Bong thanked his guests for the wonderful presentations and happily offered the night’s celebration in their honor.
The surprise hip hop dance number by Monet Lu got the guests excited and began the all night dancing -- to the music of DJ Jun Alacantara. The revelry wore on until the wee hours, with convivial dancing and hobnobbing. All told, the evening was a well-executed amalgamation of fine taste and enthralling company.
Bong would like to thank his sister Bernadette Panaguiton, guest coordinator Yari Paris. For the video and photos: Peter Duamual, Hydee Ursulino Abrahan, Andy Z. Edralin, Wackyphoto booth, Phillip Ner, Joe Cobilla, Rudy and many more. Through this article, we are praying and wishing you great health, success and many more fabulous parties to come.
To Bong, the Ultimo fashionista, Cheers! (Marian M. Sierzant)
