Gerald Anderson continues to shine

E-mail Print

Gerald Anderson is a name that continues to make waves—from his start as one of the housemates on the reality television show Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition, to his growth in a number of romantic comedies.

Even in his youth and fairly new career, he has proven that he is worthy of stardom, through his number of awards for best actor and best new male TV personality.  He has been blessed with good looks and charm, as well as incomparable talent.  He shows dedication and passion to his craft.  Both his fans and admirers have seen him blossom to one of the best actors of his generation.  He has a bright future as a young actor, getting better through every role that is presented to him.

Another claim to his rise to fame is the light romantic comedy with his at-the-time girlfriend, Kim Chiu.  Throughout their five-year relationship, they continued to be one of the biggest teen love teams.  After the break-up, Gerald came out of the shadow of the love team, proving that he can stand alone.  He then teamed up with another young and beautiful Filipina actress, Sarah Geronimo, in their first hit film Catch Me … I’m In Love.

Nowadays, Gerald is acting as the star of the newest hit soap opera, Budoy.  I don’t watch soap opera on TV, but I started to watch this show and got hooked instantly.  This teleserye is different than others because it has a message that touches the lives of those gifted children with special needs.  His performance as a young man suffering from Angelman syndrome, a mental setback, deserves to be recognized.  He owns the character through his mannerisms and take on the role.  His believable and powerful performance makes the character come to life.  Budoy is getting rave reviews and is a shoo-in for a nomination in numerous award ceremonies this year.

Gerald is the son of Caucasian-American Gerald Randy Anderson Sr. and his Filipna wife, Evangeline Opisma.  He also has two older sisters as well as one younger brother.  He was born in General Santos City but he and his family moved to Texas when he was only three years old.  It is because of this experience that he is fluent in both English and Tagalog.  Then, at fourteen, the Anderson family moved back to General Santos City where Gerald met Joross Gamboa.  Gamboa then introduced him to his manager, and the rest is history.

I had an opportunity to interview him for The Buzz.  His first impression showed his cool and humble personality.  He is clearly very well-grounded.  His beautiful smile shows that he is a good person inside and out.  I know Gerald will continue to be one of the stars that grow in the industry.  He will definitely have a presence as an actor for a long period of time.  There are a lot of stars, but there can only be one true star that will shine, named Gerald Anderson.  May God bless you with a long-lasting career and wishing you all the best!
