DOT’s Anak campaign claims YouTube Ad Awards

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – ‘Anak’, the Department of Tourism’s (DOT) answer to the question why ‘It’s More Fun in the Philippines?’ bagged three awards at the inaugural YouTube Ads Awards Philippines.

The minute-long ad featuring the ‘fun’ in Filipino family and hospitality was adjudged Best in Overall Performance, Creative, and Media by a six-man panel of advertising and marketing industry experts.

Anak, with over 14.5 million views on video-sharing website YouTube, also earned the third prize for the Travel, Transportation, Automotive and Leisure Category while sharing the third place citation for Corporate Image and Public Sector Category with telecommunications company Globe Telecom’s Last Jedi campaign.

Launched in January 2017, the television advertisement filmed at the Enchanted River in Hinatuan, Surigao features the interaction between a Filipino mother and traveler Jack Ellis, whom she called ‘anak’.

Incidentally, the YouTube accolades came in shortly after incoming DOT Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat’s pronouncement of keeping the “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” brand campaign.

The country’s version of the YouTube Ads Awards honored video advertising across seventeen categories based on content, engagement, effectiveness, and campaign results.
