The Ramon Magsaysay Award was created in 1957, the year when he died in a plane crash. Just like the beloved Magsaysay, the award is given to persons—regardless of race, nationality, creed or gender—who address issues of human development in Asia with courage and creativity. This year’s awardees paint a portrait of remarkable change their contributions which have transformed their societies for the better.
