As current Commissioner for the San Mateo County where he develops policymaking for the Human and Health Services, particularly for the Commission on Disabilities, Fel Amistad serves on the Legislative and Advocacy and Special Events Committess, and is the Chief Liaison of the San Mateo Cities’ Mayors Committee.
But Amistad’s service extends to just being on the Commission. He is an active member of the community, serving as Controller for the FilAm Democratic Organization in San Mateo County since 2003 and Vice President of the Filipino American Coalition, a non-profit political action committee, and has participated in numerous activities that foster the political growth.
“As a delegate to the California Democratic Party (CDP), I have represented our Filipino Americans in the largest political organization in the state,” Amistad said and explained his involvement further, “I served as the delegate to the Party to ensure our representation at Party conventions and events.”
Amistad stressed the need for unity. “Americans do not vote collectively, but rather individually,” he said and added, “We need to collect our kababayans and learn to think and vote as a united group.” (www.asianjournal.com)
