LAST month, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom named the appointments and reappointments of several city commissions. Among the list of the commission appointments from the Mayor’s Office is Fil-Am Carmen Colet.
Newsom appointed Colet as Commissioner of the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco.
She is the first Filipino to be appointed in the 27-member post.
According to its website, the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco is one of the largest museums in the Western world devoted exclusively to Asian art. She is also founder and editor for the Filipino Gazette, an online FilAm news publication.
