FIL-AM Grace Walker is a Commissioner in The Commission on the Status of Women in Glendale, CA.
Having already finished one term, the 20-year resident of Glendale serves in the seven-member commission that assesses and evaluates the needs and issues of women in the City and to inform and advise the Glendale City Council, City departments and sections and other community agencies and organizations of those needs and issues, according to its website.
She is the first Asian and Fil-Am to be appointed to Glendale’s Commission on the Status of Women.
Born in Manila, Philippines, Walker has over l8 years of experience being an educator. She has served as teacher, principal and technology director in both public and private schools.
According to her bio, President Bill Clinton awarded her the 1999 National Distinguished Principal award. She is currently the CEO of her own strategic management consulting firm, Walker & Associates, LLC. The Glendale City Council awarded Walker the Community Advocate of the Year in 2007 and was named as one of the 100 Most Influential Filipino Women in the US.
She is also an active community leader where she sits on the board of several organizations such as Glendale’s Kiwanis Fil-Am, Holy Family High School and was recently appointed as a member of Senator Jack Scott’s Asian American Advisory Council. She is an active member of Filipino American Business Association of Glendale (FABAG).
