Fil-Am Pete Sanchez is the Mayor of Suisun City in Solano County, California. Sanchez was recently re-elected to the post in the last November election.
Sanchez had won the mayor’s seat in 2006 and prior to that served for consecutive terms in the Suisun City Council from 1994 to 2002.
Sanchez emigrated from the Philippines to the US in 1980. In the Philippines, he graduated from the University of the East in Manila and received his CPA certificate. He then worked as an accountant at Banco Filipino, Caltex and the Central Bank.
Upon arriving to the US, he worked at the California state sales tax auditor. He then served as supervising auditor-appraiser in the Solano County Assessor Office for 23 years before retiring in 2006.
Suisun City is about an hour away from major Northern California cities San Francisco and Sacramento. It has a population of about 27,000, according to city-data.com.
Aside from his mayoral duties, Sanchez serves as Chairman of the Suisun Redevelopment Agency, Suisun Solano Water Authority, Solano Transportation Authority and Solano County Mayors’ Committee. He is also a director at Solano First Federal Credit Union and the Fil-Am Community of Fairfield, Suisun & Vacaville Inc.
