FIL-AM Rida Cabanilla Arakawa is a member of the Hawaii State House of Representatives.
She was recently re-elected to the post in the last November election.
A Democrat, she represents the 42nd District that includes Waipahu, Honouliuli, West Loch, and Ewa. She has represented the district since 2004.
According to her bio, Arakawa was born Ilocos Sur in the Philippines and has lived in Hawaii since 1970.
She earned a BS in Nursing from the University of Hawaii and has also attended Combined Arms, Services and Staff College of the United States Army in 1996 and Command and General Staff College, United States Army in 2004.
Arakawa is a member of the Army Reserve.
As a legislature, she chairs the House Committee on Housing and is a member of the Consumer Protection and Commerce; Energy and Environmental Protection; and Water, Land, and Ocean Resources committee.
