Christopher Mateo: Vice Mayor, City of Lathrop

E-mail Print

CHRISTOPHER Mateo was born in Baguio City, Philippines on September 9, 1952.

In 1972, he joined the United States Navy.  He served the Navy as a Jet Engine Mechanic.

After a four-year tour, he was honorably discharged and transitioned over to the US Postal Service. While working at the Post Office, he managed to enroll at San Jose State University and went on to earn a BS Degree in Economics.

After 31 years of service with the Postal Service he decided to retire and move to the City of Lathrop in order to be closer to his 2 grown daughters, sons-in-law, and 4 grandchildren.

One of his goals as a retired postal employee, was to give back and help his new community in any way possible and he thought about the best way to do this was to run for Public Office.

Christopher was elected as a Councilmember of the City of Lathrop on November 4, 2008.

On December 6, 2010 Christopher was sworn-in to the position of Vice Mayor.  His future goals include running for the 17th district State Assembly representing the Democratic Party.
