Is your situation forcing you to file bankruptcy?

FACING serious debt problems can be depressing to a lot of people. It may seem like the end of the world.  You may feel angry, depressed, guilty- or a combination of all three.  You may even be blaming yourself for making the decisions that led you to your present situation.

I’m here to tell you, however, that like most things in life, whatever you’re going through is most likely only temporary and will soon pass.  How can I possibly say this?

Well, did you know that millions of honest, hard-working people just like yourself are having problems paying their debts?  As a matter of fact, more than 1 million file bankruptcy in the United States every year as a result of being in debt.  Do you think these people file bankruptcy simply because they don’t want to take personal responsibility for their debts?  Not at all.

The truth is that most people who file bankruptcy do so as a result of circumstances beyond their control.  Study after study has shown that some of the most common reasons why people file for bankruptcy -unemployment, sickness, disability, death in the family- are events which are beyond our control. It is not always your fault.

`Thus, if you find yourself totally unprepared for the financial challenges that life brings your way, take comfort in the fact that the law provides a solution for you to get relief.  At one time or another, we all face those moments. Life is very unpredictable and you never know what lies ahead.  If we all had a crystal ball, our lives would be perfect and we’ll always be prepared for everything that might happen. But that’s not how life works.

So if you’ve found yourself in a situation where bankruptcy is the only way out, don’t be too hard on yourself. More often than not, it’s not as bad as you think.  Dwelling on the negative only makes things worse because it stops you from taking positive action to change your situation for the better.

Like most people, you will survive bankruptcy, get on with your life and do just fine.  Wallowing in self-pity and feeling sorry for yourself will not help your situation one bit.  Instead, be proud of the fact that you have made the decision to make things happen by taking matters into your own hands instead of waiting for things to magically change in your life.  It’s really all up to you.

Bankruptcy is not for everyone. But if appropriate for your situation, why not make the legal process work for you so that you can get on with your life and create the freedom that you’ve been wanting for yourself and your family?  Put your money worries behind you forever and start with a clean slate.  It’s never too late but you need to start somewhere.
