LA Philippine Women’s Club welcomes Board of Public Works Commissioner Jessica Caloza 

THE Los Angeles Philippine Women’s Club on Friday, April 12 hosted a meet and greet with Jessica Caloza, the new LA Board of Public Works Commissioner, who is the first Pinay to hold this position. Caloza, who was previously the director of scheduling for Mayor Eric Garcetti, is now a part of the five-member, full-time executive team that oversees projects and programs, such as construction and sanitation, to the benefit of the city’s 4 million residents. She will specifically handle the Bureau of Engineering, which deals with infrastructure plans. Guests enjoyed a dinner prepared by American Ranch & Seafood Market, followed by Caloza delivering a speech and answering questions from the audience. The Los Angeles Philippine Women’s Club, the oldest Filipino American women’s organization in Southern California, also recognized outgoing President Rosalie Caratao. The organization will now be headed by Trinity Foliente.
