On Tuesday night, February 19, Chinatown took over Two Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, California, as lanterns, lion dances, dim sum carts, parasols, and red envelopes adorned the cobblestone walkway.

To wrap up the Lunar New Year celebrations, LA philanthropists Christine and Dr. Gabriel Chiu gathered over 100 individuals for #Chinatown90210, with sponsors Bottega Veneta and Piaget.

As guests ascended the staircase from Wilshire and Rodeo, they were greeted with champagne and lychee cocktails — decorated to ring in the Year of the Golden Pig — under a cascade of Chinese lanterns and traditional Guqin music.

The first hour of the night saw dim sum offerings, a special 360 photo activation, glass displayed products from Piaget. Guests then sat inside the decked out tent decorated in lush reds and golds for a dinner by Wolfgang Puck’s legendary Chinois on Main and performances by ribbon dancers, martial artists, musicians, and more. The eight-course dinner included lobster, Peking duck, fried rice and fish — all served on fine China.

For each guest that attended, the Chiu family made a donation to support a child in China for one year, they announced during the festivities.

After dinner, dragon dancers led guests to Café Chiu, a beautiful lounge complete with a custom tea blending bar, calligraphy, candy art, carts full of Chinese pastries, and gift bags by Bottega Veneta.

The chilliness of the winter air was warmed up by the Chiu’s hospitality and welcome of all guests. Indeed, a prosperous and auspicious way to start off 2019!
