Las Vegas’ new Asian Culture Center celebrated its grand opening ceremony on Monday, August 29.
The festivities began at 3pm, with honorable mayor of the City of Las Vegas, Carolyn Goodman, cutting the ceremonial ribbon.
Hosted by Emmy-Award winner Steve Schorr, more than 300 business, political, and community leaders graced the special occasion, including the Asian-American community of Las Vegas.
Among the event’s special guests were Mayor Carolyn Goodman, state Senator scott hammond, representatives of Rep. Dina Titus and Rep. Joe heck, a representative from Las Vegas Councilwoman Lois Tarkanian, and Judges Janiece Marshall, Suzan Baucum, Eric Johnson and Susan Johnson.
After its opening few weeks ago, more 40 free classes are being held with about 3 dozen volunteer teachers. From sushi making to Mandarin; and Body points (acupressure) to Martial Arts, the center has been bursting with activities.
The Asian Culture Center represents people and countries that aim to share the colorful Asian culture and history around the world. The 5,000-square foot facility is operated and owned Asian Culture Alliance, a non-profit organization founded by Cavin Fung. It is located at 928 S. Valley View Blvd.
