Yuhua Wang’s Artworks Exhibition

An exhibit of the artworks by Dr. Yuhua Shouzhi Wang was held at the Dapeng Painting Academy of Shenzhen from December 15 to December 17, 2018.

Dr. Yuhua Wang was a professor of the College of Liberal Arts of Auburn University in the USA. She is now the Lifetime Honorary Chairwoman of the International Art Museum of America. In 2013, the World Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centers, and Associations (WFUCA) named one of Dr. Yuhua Wang’s artworks “WFUCA2013”. Her works were separately exhibited at the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C. The album of her own works, World’s Highest-Level Color Paintings and Ink-Wash Paintings: The Art of Professor Yuhua Wang, was published by the International Art Publishing Company. Her artworks are collected and put on a permanent and independent display by the International Art Museum of America.

Professor Stephen Farthing, an art historian of world renown authority and the Rootstein Hopkins Research Chair of Drawing at the University of the Arts in London as well as a member of the Royal Academy of Arts in the U.K., commented that “Dr. Wang’s paintings may draw heavily on the traditions of Eastern art, but they present themselves as extraordinarily Western ideas and images.” He also said that “Dr. Wang’s paintings very elegantly bring two forces together—the force that rejects perspective and the force of Photorealism.” In the introduction of the book World’s Highest-Level Color Paintings and Ink-Wash Paintings: The Art of Professor Yuhua Wang, Professor Farthing commented that “the space they occupy… was only opened up in Western culture in the 20th century, Professor Wang’s paintings reach across cultures to celebrate the space that exists intellectually and emotionally between representation and abstraction, between a fact and an idea.”

The ink-wash paintings of Dr. Yuhua Shouzhi Wang are characterized by a divine and natural artistic conception. The paintings’ layout arrangements are bold and easy, the energy contained and expressed in the ink is fluid and powerful, and there is not a trace of trying. They exhibit such a high and broad state that there is a magnificent ambience filled with vivacious energy. From her paintings of landscape and other flowers, one could appreciate the quality and style of Chinese paintings that were discussed by ancient Chinese art critics. In her paintings, a spiritual dimension is emanating from the physical rendering. Dr. Yuhua Shouzhi Wang’s paintings are rooted in traditions but at the same time breaking new grounds. Her inspirations come from daily lives, yet the essence of her works transcends daily lives. The form of the objects is dissolved while the inner sprit remains intact, vividly reflecting the spirituality of life.

There was a total of 42 artworks in this exhibition. Besides traditional ink-wash paintings, there were also surrealistic paintings. Every piece has reached such a level that it transcends into a divine artwork that is beyond the top class of ease.

This exhibition not only infused the economic metropolitan city with a pure stream, but also cleansed one’s mind and soul with awesomeness for the broad population of art lovers. By no means would you have wanted to miss out on this feast of world-class art!
