DTLA Night Market is a new kind of night market produced by the team behind 626 Night Market, the original and largest Asian-themed night market in America. Coming to the heart of Downtown LA on June 21, DTLA Night Market will feature a more pan-LA selection of food entertainment, arts & culture, compared to previous 626 Night Market events.

According to 626 Night Market founder Jonny C. Hwang, the DTLA Night Market is unique because it brings all local talent from the Pan-Asian community together in one event, including local restaurants, food businesses, pop-ups, food trucks, entrepreneurs, local artists, and performers. Hwang believes that bringing these community talents together in a large and innovative event will do wonders in promoting Pan-Asian culture.

DTLA Night Market will feature over 200 food, merchandise, crafts, games, music, and entertainment attractions. Pulling talent from the Los Angeles community, the 626 team placed a strong emphasis on curating up-and-coming artists and performers, working with The Studio Box and Talented Visions on the entertainment line-up. Vendor directory and map can be found on http://www.626nightmarket.com/DTLAnightmarket/vendors.php.

Special events and highlights happening over the weekend at the DTLA Night Market include:

– Curated entertainment of up-and-coming independent artists and DJs

– Muralists at the Art Walk (Popular muralist John Park will be there on Friday, June 20)

– Art Battle between 6 artists painting to the theme of “energy” on Saturday, June 21, 7-9pm

– The World’s Largest Boba Cup is Bobasaurus Rex, a collaboration with KawaiiKowai

– Hookah lounge by Boba Bear

-Beer garden sponsored by Asa hi

– Music by Amp Radio on Friday June 20

Over the years, 626 Night Market has indeed been a marquee event for Asian food enthusiasts, drawing crowds in the thousands. However, in spite of clamor for the event to be held on a monthly basis, Hwang said that he and his team will not stage the 626 Night Market anytime soon. Hwang said that doing it on a monthly basis waters the excitement down. Currently, 626 Night Market events are only held during Spring, Summer, or Fall nights. The rarity of the events allow organizers to plan it in such a way that it will be very big, and inclusive of all communities, as much as possible.

“Our analogy is, [it’s] like an NFL game.  It’s like an all-day event, people tailgate, have fun, and then they watch the game. If you do it every month, or every week, then it’s almost like baseball. Not every game is very exciting. So our strategy is to make it as large and as epic as possible,” Hwang said.

Event hours are 4pm-12am on Friday and Saturday. Presale admission is $7, and admission at the door is $10. Children 6 and under are free. Presale tickets can be purchased at http://www.eventbrite.com/e/dtla-night-market-tickets-6882187809 (Limited Quantity). Only presale tickets guarantee entry to the event.

Organizers encourage patrons to use Metro bus and train and save $2 off admission the door. Metro provides bus and rail transportation to Pico Station in front of Staples Center, until 2am.

DTLA Night Market is proudly sponsored by Wells Fargo (title sponsor), Mercedes-Benz (major sponsor), and Asahi (beer garden sponsor).
