President Duterte extends help to single mother OFW in Singapore

SINGAPORE — President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday, April 28, has granted the wishes of a household service worker here who wanted to return home and start a small business.

President Duterte met with 39-year-old Maria Rosalee Josue following his meeting with the Filipino community at Zepp@Bigbox here on Saturday night.

Josue, who hails from Tampus, Boac, Marinduque, has been working in Singapore for more than 10 years.

She has a 16-year-old daughter whom she has been single-handedly raising after she separated from her husband for almost 16 years now.

In Josue’s conversation with the President, she told him that she intends to permanently return to the Philippines in July this year.

She shared that she has a small eatery in front of her house but would like to put up a new small business to augment her income.

She sought assistance from the President, which the latter immediately granted.

Josue received a motorized banca from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and training and business loan from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

The President then flew back to Davao City after the meeting.
